Artificial intelligence is redefining how the next generation of data center\u00a0networks\u00a0are architected.\u00a0With traditional copper connections nearing their limits, silicon photonics\u00a0leverages\u00a0light to deliver higher bandwidth and improved energy efficiency, driving the next wave of data center\u00a0innovation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To\u00a0address\u00a0this\u00a0critical\u00a0need\u00a0across data centers\u00a0and\u00a0long-haul\u00a0communications,\u00a0GF is taking decisive steps to advance silicon photonics and reinforce its leadership in the field\u00a0through\u00a0two strategic acquisitions:\u00a0Advanced Micro Foundry<\/a>\u00a0(AMF), a silicon photonics foundry based in Singapore, and\u00a0InfiniLink<\/a>, a startup specializing in advanced optical data connectivity chips, based in Cairo, Egypt.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These strategic acquisitions, in addition to expanding manufacturing capacity, turbocharge our roadmap. They expand our manufacturing muscle and enhance our design capabilities, enabling us to deliver a superior, broader roadmap for both pluggable transceivers and co-packaged optics (CPO). This opens new opportunities into adjacent markets like sensing and quantum computing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why AMF: Capability, reach and resilience<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AMF is a premier silicon\u00a0photonics\u00a0foundry with a proven\u00a0200 mm\u00a0platform and deep\u00a0expertise\u00a0in \u201cwithin data center\u201d and \u201clong\u2011haul\u201d optical communications.\u00a0This acquisition means instant capacity, broader\u00a0technology\u00a0and a competitive advantage across AI data centers and communications.\u00a0We will continue to support demand on AMF\u2019s\u00a0200mm\u00a0lines and, as the market grows,\u00a0we have a clear path\u00a0advancing\u00a0toward\u00a0300mm\u00a0in Singapore\u2014improving supply assurance across regions globally.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This acquisition also accelerates our Singapore operations and complements our U.S. photonics footprint, enabling us to serve silicon photonics markets in both North America and Asia, helping our customers build secure, resilient supply chains. As for what\u2019s next in Singapore, we intend to establish a Silicon Photonics Center of Excellence, including collaboration with A*STAR, to advance next\u2011generation materials, packaging and platforms targeting 400G\/\u03bb based solutions. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With AMF joining GF, we expect to become the largest pure\u2011play silicon photonics foundry by revenue<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why InfiniLink: Design depth for connectivity<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

InfiniLink<\/a>, a design-focused company with deep expertise in connectivity chips, brings advanced capabilities in high\u2011speed connectivity, including SerDes, optical transceiver chipsets and monolithic silicon photonics. Every customer engagement at GF starts with a deep discussion about system architecture, link budget, and a variety of design choices. Their engineering talent and IP enhance GF\u2019s in\u2011house design capabilities and will help a broad range of customers strengthen their optics roadmaps and design into GF. Together, they enable our customers\u2019 differentiation and delivery of complete optical engine modules for both pluggable and co-packaged optics\u2014accelerating innovation and optimizing performance.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
